NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swimming and diving team will open the 2016-17 season with its annual Red and White Intrasquad Meet on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Horton Pool.
Head swimming coach Scott Cameron, returning for his second season at the helm, is excited to begin a new campaign. Â
"We are very excited to get our season underway with our annual intrasquad meet this weekend," said Cameron. "The team has been working very hard for the past few weeks, and we are looking forward to seeing where everyone is at as we get ready for our meets this fall."
Head diving coach Phil Hoffmann, returning for his 10th season, is also excited to see how his team's hard work in practice translates into performance at meets.
"I am looking forward to seeing this team in 'meet mode,'" Hoffmann said. "This meet is always a great guidepost to see where we are and where we need to go."
In Illinois State's first meet against outside competition, the Redbirds will welcome Illinois Wesleyan and Lewis to compete in a dual meet at Horton Pool on Sept. 30.
Saturday's meet will be the first of five home meets for the Redbirds this season. Admission to all home meets is free.
