Golanova Advances to Round Two in Singles at the ITA Midwest Regionals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. –The Illinois State women's tennis team finished day one of the singles competition at the ITA Midwest Regionals Thursday, with Veronika Golanova advancing to Friday's final round of singles qualifying. 

Golanova defeated Marija Jovicic from DePaul in the first round of singles qualifying, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4. She then moved on to defeat Iris Thioux from Detroit Mercy, 6-2, 6-2. Golanova will advance to the next round beginning at 9 a.m. Friday. She will compete against Marharita Tavpash from Bowling Green.

Jelena Karla Vujicic came up short to Jade Hilton from Illinois in the singles qualifying first round, 7-5, 6-3. 

The doubles team of Golanova and Vujicic will face off against Molligoda and Youel from Northern Illinois. The duo will take on their Northern Illinois opponents at 2 p.m. Friday.
