KETTERING, Ohio. – Senior Zach Burry concluded his impressive performance for the Illinois State men's golf team Tuesday in the final round of Dayton's Flyer Invitational, shooting a 2-under-par 69 (36-33), which included three birdies on the back nine at the par-71, 7,055 yard NCR Country Club. Overall, Burry earned a fifth-place tie on the individual leaderboard with a 2-over-par 215 (71-75-69).
The Redbirds finished in fourth place after shooting a 6-over-par 290 in the final round, improving from the pair of 291s they shot in each of the first two rounds to finish with an overall score of 872 (291-291-290).
Miami (Ohio) won the 11-team event with a 7-over-par 291 in the final round to finish with an 8-over-par 860 (284-285-291). The RedHawks were 2 strokes ahead of second-place Ohio State who finished with a 13-over-par 865 (290-286-289).
Ending in a tie for ninth-place, juniors Trent Wallace and David Rauer finished the tournament with a 6-over-par 219. Wallace finished the final 18 holes with a 3-over-par 74 (38-36), while Rauer rounded out his day with a 2-over-par 73 (34-39), which included five birdies.
Sophomore David Perkins carded a 3-over-par 74 (39-35), in the final round and finishing with an 9-over-par 222 (77-71-74).
Freshman Andrew O'Brien shot a 3-over-par 74 (39-35) in the final round to finish with a 224 (74-76-74), but his score did not count towards the team's overall score in the final round.
"Overall, I was pleased with our performance and competitiveness on a great golf course," said head coach Ray Kralis. "We had the second-best team score of the day, led by Zach's 69, and moved up the board. We can take positives from this one as we gear up for our final fall event next week."

The Redbirds will wrap up their fall season when they travel to Little Rock, Arkansas, Oct. 23-24, to compete in the Little Rock Intercollegiate at Chenal Country Club.
