Larson Named MVC Diver of the Week

ST. LOUIS – Illinois State's Kristen Larson has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. The weekly conference award is Illinois State's first of the season.

Larson, a senior from Elmwood Park, Illinois, took third place in the 3-meter dive (199.28) in Illinois State's narrow loss in a dual meet at Ball State Friday, at Lewellen Aquatic Center. Larson also finished fourth in 1-meter diving, with a score of 153.90. 

Illinois State fell to Ball State by the slimmest of margins, 152-148, on Nov. 10 in Muncie, Indiana.

The Redbirds are back in action this weekend, Nov. 16-18, as the team will split up and head to two different meets. Illinois State's swimmers will head to Cincinnati, Ohio, to compete in the Bearcat Midseason Swimming Invitational, hosted by Cincinnati. Redbird Divers, meanwhile, will make the trip to Evanston, Illinois, to dive at Northwestern's TYR Invitational.
