Redbirds Host SIUE Thursday Evening

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State Redbirds look to continue the streak at home as they take on the SIUE Cougars on Thursday at 7p.m.

THE SERIES

• The Cougars are on a two-game winning streak after defeating the Redbirds last year 92-80.

• The series is now tied 2-2, at ISU the Redbirds are 1-1 and 1-1 at SIUE.

SETTING THE TABLE

• Hannah Green was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week on November 27 following her career-best performance against UMKC on Sunday. Green added 20 points to put the Redbirds ahead of the Roos 64-53.
• The Redbirds were tabbed in the top 20 for several NCAA statistical rankings following their game on Sunday vs. UMKC. With their defensive efforts this season the team is currently ranked tenth in scoring defense only allowing 52.5 points per game and 13th in field-goal percentage defense after holding their opponents to 32.2 percent.

• Paige Saylor is ranked 18th in the country with 14 steals in four games and is first in the MVC averaging 3.5 steals per game.

 • Hannah Green is ranked 13th in country, averaging 3.0 blocks per game and is currently leading the MVC.

• The Redbirds are 2-0 at home and 0-2 on the road.


 SCOUTING THE COUGARS

• Edwardsville comes into the game after earning three-straight wins, most recently defeating their sister school SIU 57-53 on Monday.

• In three out of the four games, Lauren White and Nakiah Bell each added double-digit points.

• White is the leading scorer for the Cougars with a 42.4 field goal percentage, averaging 16.3 point per game.

• The team was voted fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll.

• Donshel Beck scored her 1,000th career point in loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Beck is currently averaging 13.8 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game.

The Redbirds remain home to take on Butler on Sunday, Dec. 3.
