COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jensen Keck broke an Illinois State record Friday, as she and Rachel Holm competed at the 2017 USA Winter Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. Both swimmers swam in the 100-yard breaststroke event.
Holm finished 36th in the preliminary round, earning a time of 1:03.66, while Keck finished 21st with a record-setting time of 1:02.32. Keck's finish qualified her for a chance to swim in the finals, where she finished 23rd with a time of 1:02.60.
"I'm extremely proud of how Rachel and Jensen swam at this meet," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "They were competing with the best in the country and they put up some great swims for us. This experience will be great for them and for our program moving forward."
The Redbird swimming and diving team will return to action against Northern Iowa, Friday, Jan. 19, at Horton Pool.
