Redbirds Host Western Michigan and Northern Illinois

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team will host Western Michigan at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Northern Illinois at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Play will take place at the Bloomington Tennis Center.

"I am excited for this weekend as we get to play two teams that we are very familiar with and have always had some battles on the court with," said head coach, Mark Klysner. "I am hoping we can take this week in getting some of the guys healthier to hopefully be at or close to our best for this weekend."

Western Michigan is currently 5-5 in the spring campaign. WMU defeated UIC, 7-0, in the season opener and from there has defeated Detroit, Green Bay, Middle Tennessee and Wayne State. So far, the Broncos have been defeated by Iowa, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Michigan State and Valparaiso. Northern Illinois is currently 9-2 after earning wins over South Dakota State, Wright State, Saint Louis University, Cardinal Stritch, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Green Bay, Omaha, North Dakota and Creighton. The Huskies have been defeated by Drake and George Washington so far in the season.

After falling 7-0 to both Detroit and Toledo last weekend, the Redbirds have a record of 4-7 overall. Play against Western Michigan will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and play against Northern Illinois will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Bloomington Tennis Center.
