ISU Cheerleading Team To Host Tryouts April 7-8

2017 Tryout Pack/Information

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Athletics cheerleading team will host co-ed open tryouts Friday, April 7, and Saturday, April 8, in the South Gym of Horton Field House. Tryouts are limited to full-time ISU male and female students who are currently admitted or have been admitted for the fall 2017 semester.

Interested students should download the tryout packet that includes the tryout schedule, waiver, and requirements. All parts of the packet must be completed and brought to tryouts in order to participate. Those trying out must attend both days to be considered or contact coach Lauren Morris for alternative options.

"Our team tryout is a great opportunity to compete with high-level athletes and earn the chance to support Redbird Athletics from the sidelines and be a representative in the community for our University," Morris said.

The Illinois State cheerleading team is comprised of male and female students spilt into two squads. The red squad is all-girl and the white squad is coed. All cheer team members cheer at home football games, and others will be assigned to cheer at home volleyball, men's and women's basketball games and other home competitions.

In addition to cheering games, the team makes numerous public appearances at performances, fundraisers, and philanthropy events throughout the year. The teams serve as ambassadors of the University and strive to represent, at all times, the values of Illinois State.
