COLUMBIA, Mo. - Junior Zach Burry dominated Monday for the Illinois State men's golf team over the first two rounds of Missouri's Tiger Invitational at the at the par-72, 7,221-yard Club at Old Hawthorne. He is currently in second place on the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 4-under-par 140 (68-72). Burry shot a 4-under-par 68 (35-33) in the first round, which is just one stroke shy of his career low of 67, and continued his strong play the second round, as he carded an even-par 72 (35-37). His performance also included five birdies in the first round and three more over the second 18 holes.

The Redbirds are currently in a tie for 11th place with a two-round total of 606 (302-204) after shooting a 302 over the first 18, followed by 304 in the second round. The hosts lead the 18-team field by 11 strokes with a two-round total of 2-over-par 578 (295-283), followed by Northern Illinois and Austin Peay.

Sophomore Trent Wallace tallied a 3-over-par 75 (38-37) in the first round, followed by a 5-over-par 77 (40-37) in the second round. He also carded three birdies in the first round and two more in the second round.

Senior Christian Crabill carded a 79 (39-40) in the first round and shot a 6-over-par 78 over the second 18 holes, which included an impressive 2-under-par 34 on the back nine. Fellow classmate Austin Havens finished with an 80 (40-40) to start the day, followed by a three-stroke improvement of a 5-over-par 77 (38-39) in the second round.

"Zach (Burry) played some great golf today when we really needed it," head coach Ray Kralis said. "With a man down due to illness, we knew we were shorthanded, and he responded like a champion and carried us all day. Just a few shots separate the top five from the rest, so we hope to be at full strength tomorrow and make a move up the leaderboard. In the event we only have four able to play in the final round, we have to embrace the challenge and find a way to get it done."

Illinois State concludes the tournament Tuesday with third and final round beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
