BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team fell to Southern Illinois, 7-0, on Friday at the Bloomington Tennis Center. Before competition went underway, head coach Mark Klysner honored the team's two seniors, Urh Krajnc Domiter and Dylan Steffens.
"On a day where we got to honor our seniors, the overall score was not what we had hoped for but I was really proud of how we competed and fought until the last point," said Klysner. Now we will prepare for the conference tournament in two weeks here at home."
The Salukis claimed the doubles point as Piotr Baranski and Alex Pozo defeated Krajnc Domiter and Peter Foersom, 6-4. Andreas Boers and Egehan Sertkaya topped Michal Kianicka and Daniel Martinez, 6-3. Wilder Pimentel and Param Pun beat Steffens and Christoffer Greve, 6-4.
In singles, Piotr Baranski defeated Krajnc Domiter, 6-1, 6-4. Wilder Pimentel topped Steffens, 6-1, 6-4. Boers dropped in a three set match to Michal Kianicka, 3-6, 6-3, 10-5. Alex Pozo beat Greve, 6-3, 6-4. Sertkaya fell to Param Pun, 7-5, 6-4. Peter Molloy topped Foersom, 6-3, 6-4.
