Normal, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team defeated Omaha, 4-2, on Sunday at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts.
"I was very impressed with the guys today and how they handled the adversity," said head coach Mark Klysner. "We got home late last night from a hard fought conference match to then get up this morning and play in some very windy conditions at home and pulled out a nice 4-2 win over Nebraska-Omaha."
The Redbirds claimed the doubles point as Andreas Boers and Egehan Sertkaya defeated Nathan Reekie and Alex Woodward, 6-3. Dylan Steffens and Christoffer Greve topped Matt Dunn and John Ellis, 6-4. Urh Krajnc Domiter and Matias Chomali were tied in an unfinished match against Razvan Grigorescu and Colin Buckley, 4-4.
In singles, Krajnc Domiter fell to Razvan Grigorescu, 6-4, 6-3. Steffens maintained the lead in an unfinished match against Nathan Reekie, 6-3, 3-6, 4-3. Boers topped Matt Dunn, 6-4, 7-6. Chomali beat Joni Heizlsperger, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. Alex Woodward fell to Greve, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2. Peter Foersom defeated John Ellis, 6-3, 6-3.
