NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State men's tennis tied for fourth place in the preseason polls alongside Omaha with 19 points. Illinois State is one of three new additions to join the Summit League this season.
Senior Andreas Boers was selected as a Summit League player to watch in the preseason polls, after finishing a team-best singles record in 2017 at 11-9.Boers also posted a 7-6 doubles mark in the dual season.
Rounding out the 2017 tournament season Redbirds Christoffer Greve, Cameron Petersen, and Brandon Lew went undefeated in the final showdown of the season.
Adding three singles wins at the tournament, Greve ended the fall season with a record of 7-4. Similarly, Petersen and Lew brought home three singles wins, improving their respective records to 6-6 and 5-3.
Egehan Sertkaya dominated the fall season with a team best singles record of 6-1, one of which was earned at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.
 Boers had an impressive showing at the ITA Midwest Regionals. Competing amongst the top collegiate athletes, Boers won three matches at the elite tournament. He finished out the season with a 6-6 singles record.
Manuel Bernhard concluded his fall season with a singles record of 5-7. Bernhard teamed up with Greve throughout fall season. The pair held a 4-1 doubles record.
Igor Kolaric had a strong showing at the WMU Vredevelt Invitational, where he won two singles matches, and one doubles match. Kolaric finished the tournament season with a 3-5 singles record.
The Redbirds will open up their dual season Jan. 27 and Jan. 28 with respective matches at 4 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. against Butler and Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Michigan.Â
