ST. LOUIS – Following the completion of the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship last weekend at the Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Illinois, the MVC has announced the 2018 Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Teams, which feature five Illinois State student-athletes.
To earn a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team, student-athletes must finish among the first 20 runners at the conference championship, hold at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (GPA), and be a sophomore in athletic and academic standing. Illinois State's MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honorees include:
2018 Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team
Kennidi Knoblock 3.93 Physical Education
Annie Moore 3.83 Physics
2018 Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team
Kyle Mattes 3.40 Mathematics
Kimathi Johnson 3.22 History
Kevin Koski 3.54 Journalism
In total, 28 women's and men's student-athletes were recognized with this honor. Between the two MVC Scholar-Athlete teams, all the MVC institutions are represented.
The Illinois State men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action on Nov. 9 when they return to Peoria, Illinois, for the NCAA Division I Cross Country Midwest Regional, hosted by Bradley.
