NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head men's basketball coach Dan Muller has announced that current Trinity Christian School senior DJ Horne has signed his National Letter of Intent to compete for the Redbirds starting in the 2019-20 academic year.
"I couldn't be more excited to add DJ to our team," said Muller. "He is exactly what we were looking to add, and is the definition of a student-athlete. He is an honor roll student who will represent our program the right way. DJ is a point guard who can score and create for others. He also brings a toughness and willingness to defend, something that this program stands for. He will be a terrific player in our program."
Horne, a 6-2 guard, was ranked as the No. 31 prospect in the state of North Carolina over the summer. He was named to the Triangle 6 All-Conference team following his junior season at Cary High School where he averaged 18 points, four assists, and three rebounds per game.
He was part of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) Eastern Regional champion and state runner-up squads in 2016-17. He was also named a John Wall All-Tournament team selection in 2016 and was a member of the Adidas Gauntlet Championship team in 2017.
Horne will join a group of student-athletes on the Redbirds squad that will also debut during the 2019-20 season including guards Dedric Boyd, Jaycee Hillsman, and Lijah Donnelly, and forwards Keith Fisher III and Abdou Ndiaye.
