NORMAL, Ill. – During the second day of the TYR Invitational in Evanston, Illinois, the Redbirds tallied up eight lifetime best times and one new school record.
The Redbird relay team had yet another impressive day performing in the 200-yard medley relay, clocking a time of 1:43.91. This relay team consisted of Julie Kolar, Jensen Keck, Kierston Farley-Sepe, and Morgan Clark.
Farley-Sepe had a victorious performance in the 400-yard IM, breaking a school record and turning in a time of 4:22.97.
Other striking performances came from Keck in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.47 in the preliminary round and 1:02.85 in the final round. Caroline Leceour performed well in the 1-meter diving event, capturing a score of 257.45 in the preliminary round and a score of 240.85 in the final round.
"I'm very proud and excited with how this group is competing," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "We are asking a lot of them this meet, and they are swimming very well. Today they fought hard and swam smart races, and we can see them getting better each session."
"We had many positives in our performances today in the diving well," said head diving coach Phil Hoffmann. "We were able to learn a lot from our individual performances that will help us get better moving forward. Caroline will be diving platform tomorrow to finish out the invite and I am looking forward to ending strong."
Illinois State will have one more day of competition and conclude the TYR Invitational on Sunday.
