NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's basketball's season-opening game against Florida Gulf Coast has been tabbed as "Hardly Normal Night", as the Redbirds host the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles in a 6 p.m. tip-off on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.
Highlighting the night will be the reveal of new alternate uniforms for the team, and there will also be a special National Anthem performance.
There will be a halftime performance by Duo Happy, while the Illinois State drumline, in addition to high school drumlines from around the area, will be performing before and throughout the game, all around Redbird Arena.
A guest DJ will perform in the student section, which will be having a beach theme – and students will receive sunglasses and lei's when they enter the student section, until the supply is exhausted.
Illinois State returns four starters from last season and opens the season with nearly 90 percent of its scoring returning from a team that advanced to the 2018 MVC Tournament championship game. The home game is the earliest start to a season in program history, and the first time ISU has hosted an opening game since the 2014-15 season.
