NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's basketball team will have its annual Retro Day game on Saturday, Dec. 1, when the team hosts San Diego State as part of the Missouri Valley / Mountain West Challenge.
As part of the Retro Day game, Illinois State will wear its throwback "I-State" jersey, along with the iconic candy-stripe shorts. Fans are also encouraged to wear white and help make Redbird Arena a great environment for this MVC / MWC Challenge game.
The first 500 students in attendance will receive a white retro Redbird t-shirt. Fans are also able to purchase vintage Redbird gear from the official College Vault vintage line by visiting the Alamo II merchandise stand. If you cannot attend the game or want to get your shirt ahead of the game, you can shop online at the Alamo II and College Vault websites.
Fans will also welcome back 1967 Illinois State graduate and 2017 Percy Family Hall of Fame Institutional Great Award recipient Steve Fisher. Fisher retired two years ago as head coach of the San Diego State men's basketball team after 18 seasons with the Aztecs. Between Michigan – where he won a national title as the interim head coach with the Wolverines – and San Diego State he accumulated 495 wins as head coach.
