Redbird Gymnastics Signs Two To 2019-20 Roster

 NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State gymnastics head coach Bob Conkling announced the addition of two new recruits, who have signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) to compete for Redbirds gymnastics. Katherine McGowan (Kinnelon, New Jersey) and Angelica Labat (Chesapeake,Virginia) will continue their education and gymnastics careers as Redbirds starting in the 2019-20 academic year.

2018 New Jersey State Championships fifth place in the all- around and second place on bars… 2018 regional meet, placed fifth in the all-around and third place on the bars… 2018 USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic National Qualifier and placed 33rd in the all-around and 29th on bars.

Conkling on McGowan: "Katie is a clean and solid gymnast that will only get better during her college career.  She has improved a lot in the past couple years and we are excited to have her join our team."

2018 Virginia State Championships fourth place in the all-around and second place on bars and floor exercise… 2018 Regional meet place ninth in the all-around and fifth on the beam… 2018 USA Junior Olympic National Qualifier and placed 32nd in the all- around and 23rd on bars.

Conckling on Labat: "Angelica has greatly improved this past year and we look forward to her becoming a Redbird. On a side note, Angelica did her earlier club training with current Redbird gymnasts Jessica Rothman and Charlise Doctor."
