NEW CASTLE, Ind.  – Illinois State head men's basketball coach Dan Muller has been selected as one of 18 men who have been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 2019 Silver Anniversary Team, based on outstanding accomplishments as a senior basketball player 25 years ago.
The team includes 10 members named to the 1994 Indiana All-Star squad. Eight other all-state players are included to recognize the top of Indiana's high school class of 1994.
Muller, from Lafayette, Indiana, and Lafayette Central Catholic High School, was an AP high honorable mention All-State performer, averaging 23.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for the Hoosier Conference championship squad. During his senior year his squad went 16-6, as he averaged 19.0 points as a junior and earned an AP honorable mention All-State selection, as he also averaged 17.4 points as a sophomore.
At Illinois State he played and started in 128 games, scoring 1,445 points with 682 rebounds and 285 assists. He continues to hold the school record for consecutive games started (128) and minutes played (4,169). His teams won at least 20 games in each of his four seasons, and his four-year win total of 91 remains as the most over a four-year period in school history. The two-time Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year stands 11th in school history in scoring and 14th in assists.
Since taking over as head coach of his college alma mater, Muller has won 128 of his 211 games on the sideline, for a winning percentage of .607. The 2017 MVC Coach of the Year has helped lead the Redbirds to two NIT postseason appearances and a top-three finish in the MVC in each of the last four seasons.
1994 Indiana All-Stars include Mr. Basketball Bryce Drew along with Tim Bishop, Scott Combs, Tige Darner, Sean Daugherty, Brien Hanley, Shane Miller, Lee Nailon, Bonzi Wells and LaDrell Whitehead.
The remaining eight, named to various all-state teams are: Aaron Brown, Damon Cobb, Danny Moore, Muller, Cory Norman, Joe Sibbitt, Jamie Uptgraft and Russ Yoder.
All Men's Silver Anniversary Team members will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 58th Annual Men's Awards Banquet on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.
