Redbirds Look to Continue Win Streak at Northern Kentucky

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's basketball team will hit the road for a Friday night matchup against Northern Kentucky.

THE SERIES

• Northern Kentucky leads the series 4-3, dating back to 1979.

• On Nov. 15, 2017, Illinois State held the Norse to their lowest score of the 2017-18 season, defeating NKU, 49-37.

• With last year's victory, Coach Kristen Gillespie holds a 1-0 record over Coach Camryn Whitaker.

REDBIRD BITS

• The Redbirds enter the game with a 3-4 record, after capturing their second-straight win on Tuesday, Dec. 4 against Austin Peay.

• Simone Goods led all scorers with 22 points and added her seventh career double-double with 14 boards. With Tuesday's performance, the senior forward sits second in the conference in points and rebounds per game and is third in field goal percentage, shooting 51.3 percent.

• Coach Gillespie announced the addition of former Redbird volleyball player, Lexi Wallen. Wallen tallied 387 kills and 553 digs in her four-year career as a member of the Redbird volleyball program. The senior forward was a three-sport athlete in high school, excelling in volleyball, soccer and basketball. Wallen holds the St. Thomas More high school record with 2,200 points and guided her team to a state championship.

SCOUTING THE NORSE

• Northern Kentucky owns a 1-4 record, most recently falling to Austin Peay, 52-48.

• Freshman guard Taylor Clos scored a career high 21 points, going 5-for-7 from beyond the arc in Monday's loss. Clos leads the team in points and assists per game with 11.0 and 3.0, respectively.

• Molly Glick became the 12th player in Norse program history to tally 100 career 3-pointers. The redshirt junior was also selected to the Preseason All-Horizon League First Team.  

NEXT UP

After a week hiatus for fall finals, the Redbirds will return to Doug Collins Court on Sunday, Dec. 16 when they take on Maryville at 3:30 p.m.
