Bloomington, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team defeated Wright State, 6-1, Saturday Feb. 10 at the Bloomington Tennis Center.
"It was nice to get a win over a quality opponent," head coach Mark Klysner said. "We played well enough to get the win but we will definitely have to step up and play a lot better tomorrow against Belmont."
The Redbirds defeated the Raiders in all flights of doubles. Egehan Sertkaya and Manuel Bernhard clinched the doubles point by defeating Varun Kalaiarasan and Param Pun in the No. 3 spot.
In singles, Illinois State took five of six matches from Wright State. Cameron Petersen won his match by default for the first Redbird victory. Pol Botifoll Rius and Sertkaya took the next two matches respectively in the No. 5 and No. 4 spots. Igor Kolaric overcame Marcel Ueltzhoeffer adding a fourth singles win. Continuing his win streak, Christoffer Greve defeated Fernando Nardelli in the No. 1 spot. Andreas Boers fell by Param Pun for the 6-1 margin.
The Redbirds will host Belmont Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Bloomington Tennis Center. Admission to all home matches is free.
