The Illinois State men's tennis team was edged out by DePaul in a tight match Friday at the Bloomington Tennis Center.
The Redbirds started off strong with a doubles win from the tandem of Christoffer Greve and Igor Kolaric. DePaul topped the Birds in both the No. 2 and No. 3 spots earning the Blue Demons the doubles point.
The Redbirds evenly matched up with the Blue Demons in singles play, taking three wins each. DePaul earned the first two singles victories over Pol Botifoll Rius and Andreas Boers. Manuel Bernhard earned a win for Illinois State in flight six of singles. DePaul answered with a win over Egehan Sertkaya to clinch the match. The Redbirds finished out the match strong with victories from Greve and Kolaric.
Even with the late comeback, the Redbirds lost the match 4-3. Men's tennis will be back in action tomorrow at the Bloomington Tennis Center for a match against UIC at 3 p.m.
