NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State sophomore gymnasts Alyssa Wiggle and Gabrielle Cooke were named the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast and Performer of the Week, respectively, on Wednesday following strong individual performances last Sunday's tri-meet against Lindenwood and Winona State.
Wiggle had a strong meet, as she tied for first in the all-around (38.650) in just her second meet competing in the all-around. The Dearborn, Michigan, native had solid performances on the uneven bars (9.725), beam (9.725), and the floor competition (9.725) to earn MIC Gymnast of the Week honors for the first time in her career.
Cooke was named the MIC Performer of the Week for the second time in 2018, after she tied her season-best on the floor competition (9.875). The Chicago, Illinois native also took first place on the vault (9.750) and finished second in the all-around (38.525).
The Redbirds return to action, Friday, Feb. 9, inside Horton Field House, as they host Central Michigan at 7 p.m. ISU welcomes all local gymnastics teams for their annual 'Pack The House' night.
