NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's tennis team travels to Oregon to begin the spring break trip as they take on Portland (3-7) and George Fox (3-5) on Thursday beginning at 8 a.m. The Redbirds will round out the week with a match against Seattle (4-8) on Friday at 12:30 p.m. in Seattle, Washington.
The Redbirds split last weekend defeating Butler at home and dropped to the UIC Flames in Chicago on Sunday. The team overcame Butler as Ivon Mihaleva clinched the 4-3 victory with a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (6) decision in the No. 4 singles.
Illinois State most recently fell to the Flames in a tough 7-0 battle on Sunday. At No. 1 singles Veronika Golanova took her opponent to three sets, but fell 5-7, 6-3, and 10-4. Estelle Vanthier also took her match to three sets and fell short 6-2, 4-6, 10-7.
After a four-game road swing the Redbirds return home for a match against Murray State on Wednesday, March 21.
