NORMAL, Ill. – Members of the Illinois State swimming and diving team competed at the first day of the NCAA Diving Zones and College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America National Invitational.
Caroline Lecoeur competed at NCAA Diving Zones in Columbus, Ohio. Lecoeur followed up her performance yesterday in the 1-meter diving event today in the 3-meter event. She went on to post a score of 211.15, finishing in 43rd.
"The ending wasn't what we were hoping for, however it was a fantastic learning experience for Caro," head diving coach Phil Hoffmann said. "To get this experience, at this level, as a freshman, will help her immensely moving forward. The future is bright for her and all of Redbird Diving."
Molly Hill, Jensen Keck, Morgan Clark, and Mary Katherine Tillotson also represented Illinois State at the CSCAA National Invite in Annapolis, Md.
The relay team of Hill, Keck, Clark and Tillotson competed in the 200-yard medly relay, finishing with a time of 1:44.47 (18th). Keck also swam in the 200-yard breaststroke, earning a final time of 1:02.69 to finish 10th in the B final.
"I'm very pleased with how the girls swam tonight," head swimming coach Scott Cameron said. "They put together a good relay swim with some solid times, and I was excited to see them compete and win their heat against a very good field of teams. Jensen put together a much better swim this evening in her 100 breaststroke and was able to move up in finals and finish 10th. All in all, it was a good night of racing for the Redbirds."
The CSCAA National Invite will conclude tomorrow.
