NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State men's tennis earned their second Summit League win over Omaha Saturday, April 21 at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts by a, 6-1, margin.
"Great win for us today," head coach Mark Klysner said. "The guys battled tough in some windy conditions, but I think we just wanted it a little more than them at the end and kept our cool during intense moments of the match."
After dropping the flight three doubles match, the Redbirds earned the doubles point behind the No. 1 and No 2 spots. Igor Kolaric and Christoffer Greve extended their winning streak to four with their defeat of Omaha, 7-6 in flight one. Andreas Boers and Pol Botifoll Rius clinched the doubles point, improving their record to 11-5.
Greve was defeated in the first singles match by Abdoul Ouattara, 6-0, 6-1. Rius picked up a win in flight six over Luke Moorhead for his fourth straight win. Kolaric overcame Razvan Grigorescu bringing his dual season record to 15-4. Boers, Manuel Bernhard, and Egehan Sertkaya topped their opponents in three-set matches for the, 6-1 margin.
The Redbirds extended their home record to 10-1 and picked up their second Summit League win of the season. The Birds will host Drake Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. for their final regular season match at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts.
