NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's and women's track and field teams will close out the regular-season slate Friday when they travel to Madison, Wisconsin, to compete in the Wisconsin Twilight, hosted by Wisconsin. Field events are slated to start at 2 p.m., with track events following at 5:30 p.m.
In addition to the host Badgers, tomorrow's meet will include MVC-foes Northern Iowa and Loyola, as well as Marquette.
In their last outing at the Lenny Lyles-Clark Wood Invitational, hosted by Louisville, the Redbirds received strong performances from throwers Julia Bourke and Kassie Hoyme. Bourke posted two top-three finishes, winning the open hammer throw and placing second in the open shot put. Bourke shined in the hammer throw, winning the event with a heave of 57.88m (189-11) and recording the third-best mark in ISU history. Hoyme captured a season-best throw of 43.65m (143-02) in the discus.
On the men's side, Sam Weisz and Sam Peschke had solid outings in their respective events. In the open discus, Weisz launched a personal-best heave of 46.07m (151-01) to finish fourth. Peschke captured a personal-record of his own in the pole vault, clearing 4.77m (15-07.75) to place fifth. His mark currently ranks sixth in the Valley.
On the track, Kennidi Knoblock and Annie Moore performed well in the 1,500-meter run. Knoblock clocked in at a season-best 4:41.37, with Moore finishing just behind in a personal-record 4:41.40. Jake Gillum excelled in the 1,500-meter as well, finishing fifth in the men's race with a personal-best time of 3:56.95.
Justin Agustin and Andy Hatch also notched season-bests. Agustin finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in 54.16. Hatch captured season-bests in the 100-meter (10.86) and 200-meter (21.82).
