Redbird Fan Fair Set for Aug. 18

NORMAL, Ill. – The 14th-annual Redbird Fan Fair will take place Saturday, Aug. 18, on the Illinois State campus, where patrons will have the opportunity to enjoy the Redbird volleyball exhibition match, a football scrimmage, carnival games and music.

All events are open to the public and serve as the official kickoff of the 2018 fall athletics season. Free parking will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis in lots surrounding Hancock Stadium and Redbird Arena.

Redbird volleyball kicks off the season with an exhibition match versus DePaul at 1 p.m. to start the day's activities, with a free kids clinic (ages 12 and under) to follow on court after the completion of the match. Tickets are $10 for adults and kids 12 and under are $5 (Reggie's Kids Club members are free).

The Fan Fair will follow on the concourse at Hancock Stadium at 2:30 p.m. The first 500 Reggie's Kids Club members in attendance at Hancock Stadium will receive the official 2018 Reggie's Kids Club T-shirt. Reggie's Kids Club is free for children ages 12 and under. Each member receives Reggie's monthly eNewsletter about all the Reggie's Kids Club events, a birthday card from Reggie, and give-a-ways and invitations to exclusive Reggie's Kids Club events. Children who have been signed up in the past do not need to "renew" their membership. Once a child is signed up, their membership stays active until they turn 13 years old. For more information on Reggie's Kids Club, visit www.ReggiesKidsClub.com.

Student-athletes and coaches from Illinois State's 19 varsity sports teams will be on hand at the Fan Fair, assisting in the various games. They will interact with the fans and will be signing autographs on a limited basis. Additional activities include inflatable games provided by Fun on the Run.

Also a part of this year's festivities is the annual Spirit Photo sponsored by the Dean of Students Office, in which Illinois State University students have the opportunity to take a photo on the field at Hancock Stadium with members of the Big Red Marching Machine, the ISU cheerleaders and Reggie Redbird. Students are encouraged to wear red and a limited number of free t-shirts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The photo will be taken at 3:30 p.m., and students are encouraged to stick around for the football scrimmage which will start at 4 p.m.
