NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State rising sophomore Jake McCaw has made an impact on the field this summer for the Grand Lake Mariners.
The Bloomington, Illinois, native was the starting first basemen for the Mariners in the Great Lakes Collegiate League. Illinois State teammates, Connor Peplow, Tyson Hays and Justin Diaz joined McCaw on the Mariners, as they finished 17-24 on the year in the Northern Division. McCaw finished the year batting .288/.444/.450 with 32 hits, including nine doubles, three home runs, 28 RBIs and 21 runs. Those numbers landed McCaw in the top-5 for the Mariners in at-bats, hits, doubles, triples and home runs, while he led the team in RBIs and walks (30).
During his freshman campaign, McCaw appeared in 17 games while starting in 15 of them for the Redbirds. He slashed .222/.348/.296 with 12 hits including four doubles, six RBIs and seven runs. Defensively, he recorded 84 putouts, 12 assists and just three errors for a .970 fielding percentage.Â

- Owns a record of 4-1 with a save and a 4.12 ERA in 12 games with four starts.
- Has 53 strikeouts with 15 walks over 39.1 innings pitched.
Jack Bellinger | Chicago Suburban Baseball League | Lombard Orioles
- Compiled a 2-0 record with a flawless ERA over six games with 26 strikeouts and seven walks over 15.0 innings.
- Went 4.0 innings, with nine strikeouts and four walks in a 4-0 win at the Oswego Cats on July 25.
Jack Butler | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League | Muskegon Clippers
- Hitting .284 with seven doubles, a home run, 13 RBIs and 25 runs.
- Went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs in a 5-2 win versus the Irish Hills Leprechauns on July 28.
Joe Butler | Northwoods League | Rockford Rivets
- Batting .213 with four doubles, a home run, eight RBIs and 10 runs.
- Pitched 1.0 inning, striking out two in relief on the year.
- Went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored in a 14-1 win versus the Kalamazoo Growlers on June 28.
- Finished his season with the Rockford Rivets.
Tyler Carpenter | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League | Muskegon Clippers
- Hitting .263 with three doubles, three home runs, 11 RBIs and 16 runs.
- Went 0-for-4 with an RBI in a 6-1 victory at the Irish Hills Leprechauns on July 29.
Justin Diaz | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League | Grand Lake Mariners
- Hitting .273 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, four RBIs and 14 runs.
- Went 0-for-4 in an 8-6 loss versus the Saginaw Sugar Beets on July 26.
Jacob Gilmore | Prospect League | Lafayette Aviators
- Compiled a 1-1 record with a 4.38 ERA over 10 games with eight starts.
- Has 36 strikeouts and 19 walks over 41 innings.
- Went 5.0 innings, allowing 10 hits, eight runs, while striking out four and walking three in a no decision 12-9 victory at West Virginia Miners on July 27.
Dalton Harvey | Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League | Albany Dutchmen
- Harvey is 2-1 with a save posting a 5.10 ERA in 12 games with 15 strikeouts and seven walks over 12.1 innings.
- Pitched 0.1 inning fanning his only batter in a 7-5 win versus the Saugerties Stallions on July 29.
Tyson Hays | Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League | Grand Lake Mariners
- Batting .284 with one double, three home runs, 16 RBIs and 14 runs.
- Went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a 6-2 loss at the Lima Locos on July 28.
Brent Headrick | Northwoods League | Wisconsin Woodchucks
- Owns a 1-2 record with a 2.63 ERA with 35 strikeouts and six walks over 27.1 innings.
- Went 5.2 innings, giving up seven hits, three runs and striking out seven in a 5-0 loss at the Madison Mallards on June 28.
- Finished his season with the Wisconsin Woodchucks.
Colton Johnson | Northwoods League | Kenosha Kingfish
- Has a 3-1 record with a 4.24 ERA striking out 30 with 16 walks over 29.2 innings.
- Went 5.2 innings, allowing three hits, one run, eight strikeouts, and two walks in a 3-1 win at the Lakeshore Chinooks on June 27.
- Finished his season with the Kenosha Kingfish.

- Hitting .277/.442/.404 with 13 doubles, a triple, two home runs, 29 RBIs, and 47 runs.
- Led the Prospect League in walks (51).
- Has a .846 OPS.
- Went 5-for-5 with three doubles, one home run, three RBIs, and four runs on July 27.
Jeff Lindgren | Northwoods League | Bismarck Larks
- Compiled a 3-1 record with three saves posting a 1.45 ERA over nine games with two starts.
- Fanned 18 batters while walking five over 24.2 innings.
- Went 7.2 innings, giving up eight hits, two runs, with six strikeouts, and two walks in a 3-2 win versus the Eau Claire Express on July 1.
- Finished his season with the Bismarck Larks.

- Went 5.0 innings, giving up five hits, two runs, one earned, eight strikeouts and three walks in a no decision against the Battle Creek Bombers on June 27.
