COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the 10th consecutive semester, the Illinois State swimming and diving team has been recognized by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for its continued success in the classroom, being named to the organization's Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2018 semester.
The Redbirds are a part of a record 713 teams from 460 institutions from across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions to be named to the CSCAA's Scholar All-America Team. The CSCAA acknowledges teams with this honor for achieving a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. Illinois State turned in a cumulative team GPA of 3.49 during the fall term, besting its Spring 2018 GPA of 3.48. During the fall semester, seven Redbirds – Molly Hill, Jensen Keck, Caroline Lecoeur, Julie Kolar, Rachel Rymer, Liz Thull and Kari Balson.
"I'm very excited to see our team recognized as a Scholar All-America Team," head swimming coach Scott Cameron said. "It takes a lot of hard work and commitment from the entire team to achieve this award, and these young women have definitely earned it. We could not be more proud of them and all that they have achieved in the classroom."
The Redbirds will be returning home after a long weekend on the road to celebrate the program's seven seniors – Casey Balson, Kari Balson, Maia Cain, Kirstie Cook, Molly Hill, Elyse Pratl and Savannah Rubocki – this Friday at Horton Pool. The first event against the Evansville Purple Aces is set to begin at 5 p.m. with Senior Day recognition beginning at approximately 4:50 p.m.
