NORMAL, Ill. – After a big win against Southeast Missouri last weekend in its home opener, the Illinois State gymnastics team will host the annual 'Pack The House' meet on Friday, February 1, when the Redbirds host Central Michigan at 7 p.m. inside Horton Field House.

"I feel we are a better team now than when we competed a few weeks ago at Central Michigan. The team continues to improve in workouts and their confidence from last Friday's competition has carried over into this week. I have confidence in this team and I believe that they will have a strong performance again this Friday."
Against Central Michigan:
In their third meet of the season, the Redbirds were defeated by the Chippewas, 195.275-190.050, at McGuirk Arena (Jan. 11, 2019) … The Redbirds had their strongest turn of the night on floor, scoring a 48.000 after a solid turn on beam … senior Meredith LaRoche picked up the only individual event win for the Redbirds on vault, finishing first with a score of 9.775 … The Redbirds and the Chippewas competed twice last season, with CMU coming out victorious in both meets.

The Redbirds were glad to be home last Friday night, as they posted a season-high team score and defeated Southeast Missouri, 194.175-184.425 … ISU earned a season high on uneven bars, scoring a 48.825 … The Redbirds held four of the top five places in vault … Senior Kylie Meyer earned a season high and placed first on the uneven bars scoring a 9.850 … Junior Gabrielle Cooke won the all-around for the second week in a row with a score of 38.600.
About the Chippewas:
Denelle Pedrick won the uneven parallel bars and the all-around last Sunday, as Central Michigan defeated rival Western Michigan by a score of 193.675-192.800… The Chippewas' top team score, a 48.625, came on both bars and floor exercise.
