NORMAL, Ill. – Back to back road wins over in-state foes have brought No. 7 Illinois State back home for this weekend's Homecoming matchup against Indiana State. ISU head coach Brock Spack will preview the contest against the Sycamores at The Brock Spack Show, presented by Bud Light, live from Schooners Thursday night in Bloomington beginning at 6 p.m.
Illinois State (5-2, 2-1 MVFC) took advantage of five turnovers by Western Illinois to come away with a 28-14 win last Saturday in Macomb. In contrast, the Sycamores (3-4, 1-2 MVFC) turned the ball over a season high four times during a 42-23 loss to No. 3 South Dakota State last Saturday in Terre Haute.Â
The Redbirds and the Sycamores will meet for the 71st time, with Illinois State holding a 37-31-2 advantage over Indiana State in the all-time series which dates back to 1936. The Redbirds have won six out of the last eight contests overall against the Sycamores, however Indiana State has won two of the last three in the series with a pair of wins in Terre Haute. Indiana State has not won a game in Normal since 1997 and the Redbirds are 7-3 against the Trees under the leadership of Spack.
Co-hosts Dick Luedke and Ted Schmitz will also welcome senior offensive lineman Gabe Megginson to the show as this week's player guest. The Jacksonville, Illinois, is a two-year starter on the offensive line for the Redbirds and a key member of the offensive front. However, his season was cut short due to a back injury and he will watch the rest of the games from the sideline as the Redbirds work toward a playoff berth.
Schooners is located at 810 East Grove Street in Bloomington and sits just off the corner of Grove Street and Clinton Boulevard. For those who can't make it out to Schooners to watch the show live, it will be broadcast on WJBC 1230 AM in the Twin Cities and streamed live on GoRedbirds.com.
