NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State diving standout Caroline Lecoeur has been named the recipient of the 2019-20 Dede Woytowych Endowed Scholarship, presented annually to a junior or senior member of the Redbird swimming and diving team.
"Caro is a great example of who we are as a program and where we strive to be," head coach Caitlin Hamilton expressed. "She is bright, competitive and not afraid to challenge herself to new heights. Caro's character and determination are why she is this year's recipient of the Woytowych Endowed Scholarship."

The reigning Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Year, Lecoeur has excelled throughout her career as a Redbird. The Lyons, France, native is a seven-time Valley Diver of the Week honoree and an all-conference performer. This season alone, the junior has turned in a pair of NCAA Diving Zone qualifying performances, eight top-five finishes and a school record. A standout in the classroom as well, Lecoeur carries a 3.70 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) as a psychology major and international studies minor.
The Woytowych scholarship was established in 2007 by Denise and Rich Woytowych (parents of Dede) and her many friends. Dede was a swimming letterwinner for ISU who died suddenly in 2005 at the age of 23. Dede had a personal impact on the lives of her teammates, her coaches, her community and swimming fans.
This endowed scholarship is one of 30 available to Illinois State student-athletes that are funded by private donors.
