CONWAY, Ark. – The Illinois State baseball team split a Sunday doubleheader against the Central Arkansas Bears. The Redbirds won game one 8-0. However, they fell to the Bears 4-1 in game two.

Scoring Breakdown:
- Illinois State scored four runs in the first inning against Central Arkansas in game one. Parola grounded out to score Rave to make it 1-0. Next, Butler singled to the shortstop that brought home Aeilts. Then, Gaines singled to shortstop that scored Hutchinson. Finally, Butler stole third and ended up scoring on a throwing error by the catcher to give ISU the 4-0 lead. Â
- The 'Birds would score three runs in the top of the second inning, as Parola would bring home Huggins. Libman hit a sacrifice fly that scored Rave. Then, Butler doubled down the left field line to score Parola to give ISU a 7-0 lead after two innings.
- In the ninth inning, Libman grounded out to second base to score Rave. ISU defeated Central Arkansas 8-0 in game one.

Scoring Breakdown:
- The Bears scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning on a single to go up 1-0 on ISU.
- In the sixth inning, another single scored two runs to give the Bears a 3-0 lead.
- A throwing error in the seventh cost Illinois State another run that put the Bears up 4-0.
- Butler grounded out in the top of the eighth inning to push across Aeilts for the only Redbird run in the second game of the doubleheader. The Birds lost 4-1.

"Obviously our hitting has carried us to this point. Today, we finally settled in on the mound and threw the ball well for 18 innings. Unfortunately, they threw it very well the second game. We have really swung the bats early on this season, but in the night cap you got to tip your cap because the young man on the other side threw a heck of a ball game."
