NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team will head south on Wednesday, Feb. 27 for a match against the Saint Louis Billikens, with the first serve scheduled for 12 p.m. at the St. Clair Tennis Club.
The Redbirds are 8-3 overall in the dual season and 8-1 on their home court, after most recently capturing a 6-1 win over Green Bay on Sunday. After a nine-game home stretch, the 'Birds look to collect their first win on the road.
Aleksa Lazarevic, is on a nine match winning streak and holds a team-best 10-1 singles record. Senior Igor Kolaric went 8-3 in his last 10 matches and is 5-2 in the dual season playing in the No. 1 spot. Kolaric and Diego Le Gal Perez hold the team's best doubles record, sitting 4-1 thus far into the season.
The Billikens currently sit 1-4, earning their first win of the spring, 6-1, over Quincy. Saint Louis collected the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. After collecting the first point, the Billikens quickly rolled through singles. The match was a complete team effort with victories in the top five flights of singles. Saint Louis dropped their only match in the No. 6 spot for the 6-1 final. Kenji Yanaba continued his dominance in flight two singles, improving his team-high record to 3-2.
