ST. LOUIS, Mo. – After competing against a tough field of golfers, Illinois State senior Trent Wallace has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for his performance at the Seminole Intercollegiate.
With a final score of one-under par (215), Wallace tied for 17th individually with five other golfers. Illinois State finished the tournament tied for 11th with Wallace leading the squad. The Redbirds played teams ranked in the top 50 on Golf Stat, including West Virginia (41), host Florida State (30), Louisville (29), and Wake Forest (5).
This is the second MVC honors for Men's Golf this spring. David Perkins earned the honor after his performance at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. The honor is Wallace's eighth of his career, which is second-most all-time among Redbird golfers behind Matt Miller's nine.
The squad will return to action on March 11-12 when they travel to Tampa, Fla. For the USF Invitational.
