BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Redbird Basketball Coaches Shows, featuring Illinois State men's head coach Dan Muller and women's head coach Kristen Gillespie will air tonight live from Hy-Vee Market Grille in Bloomington, Illinois. Fans unable to attend the show can listen live on WJBC 1230-AM or GoRedbirds.com, as Muller and Gillespie preview their upcoming matchups.
The Kristen Gillespie Show, hosted by Greg Halbleib, starts out the night at 6 p.m. Gillespie will be joined by junior guard TeTe Maggett. The women's team (11-9, 4-5) returns to Doug Collins court this weekend with games against Evansville on Friday night and Indiana State on Sunday. Maggett is new to the Redbird squad after playing two seasons at Vincennes in Indiana. She has been named as MVC Newcomer of the Week three times this season and swept the weekly honors the week of Jan.2, earning Player of the Week recognition. Maggett averages 16.1 points a game and captured her first career double-double against Loyola Friday, with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
The Dan Muller Show follows at 7 p.m., hosted by Dick Luedke and Mike Matthews. Muller will be joined by freshman forward Rey Idowu. The men's team (14-9, 7-3) hosts Valparaiso on Tuesday, Feb. 5 with tip-off set for 7 p.m. Idowu has played in all 23 games this season and averages 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. The Melbourne, Florida, native has made 59.5 percent (25-of-42) of his shots and leads the team with 10.7 rebounds per 40 minutes of action.
