CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Illinois State Redbirds defeated the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks 18-6 on Tuesday afternoon. The 'Birds homered six times in the game to earn the victory.

Scoring Breakdown:
- The 'Birds scored in the first inning on a double from Jordan Libman that brought home Rave. ISU went up 1-0 after the first inning.
- In the third inning, Hays blasted a grand slam to increase the ISU lead to 5-0.
- Peterson hit his first career home run as a Redbird in the top of the fourth inning to increase the ISU lead to 6-0. Libman later in the inning hit a sacrifice fly to center that brought home Huggins. ISU led SEMO 7-0 after four innings.
- Peterson homered again in the top of the sixth inning to put ISU up 8-0. SEMO scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 8-3 after six innings.
- Joe Butler singled in the top of the seventh to bring home Aeilts to make the score 9-3.
- In the top of the eighth inning, Huggins and Rave hit back-to-back home runs to make the score 11-3.
- Illinois State scored seven more runs in the top of the ninth inning. Huggins singled to bring home Jack Butler. Rave singled to right field that brought home Peterson to make it 13-3. Next, Parola hit a three-run home run to make the score 16-3. Then, Tyler Carpenter doubled to right field that scored Libman. Finally, Jack Butler hit home Aeilts to make the score 18-3 in favor of ISU.
- The Redhawks scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to make the final score 18-6 as Illinois State defeated SEMO.
