ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois State senior Trent Wallace was named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after earning medalist honor at the USF Invitational. This is his second honor in the spring season, and his third overall in 2018-19.
Wallace finished the tournament 12 strokes under par (204) and atop 84 individual golfers. He helped lead the Redbirds to a second-place tie in their inaugural appearance in the USF Invitational.
Wallace's medalist honor is the sixth of his collegiate career. The honor is Wallace's second consecutive and third in the 2018-19 school year. This marks Wallace's ninth golfer of the week award of his career, tying him for the most all-time with former Redbird golfer Matt Miller, and tied for third-most in MVC history.
Illinois State has had a Golfer of the Week in every tournament so far in the spring season. David Perkins earned the honor after the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate and Wallace was named after the Seminole Intercollegiate.
The team will return to action March 16-17 at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
