Fayne, Yarbrough named All-District

KANSAS CITY – Illinois State seniors Phil Fayne and Milik Yarbrough have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District first and second team, respectively, announced by the NABC on Thursday afternoon.

Fayne played and started in all 33 games this season and averaged 15.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He led the Redbirds in blocked shots (40) and steals (36).

He was one of just 16 student-athletes in the country this season to have at least 30 steals, 30 blocked shots, and be making over half of their shots from the field. He closed his three-year Illinois State career with 1,295 points, which is the 21st highest career total in program history.

Yarbrough played in all 33 games during the year, starting 32 times. He led ISU in points (550), rebounds (228), and assists (101), and became the first Redbird since Tarise Bryson in 1999-00 to lead ISU in all three categories in the same season.

He is also one of 15 student-athletes since 1992-93 to have two seasons of scoring at least 525 points, pulling down 210 rebounds, and dishing out 100 assists. His two-year scoring total of 1,081 is the most of any player in their first two years since Doug Collins scored 1,590 over his first two seasons in a Redbird uniform.
