NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team will play its second mid-week matchup in as many weeks at Duffy Bass Field tomorrow, March 26 versus the Milwaukee Panthers. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Illinois State Redbirds (13-9, 0-0 MVC)
Illinois State lost three games in a row for the first time this season, dropping a three-game series at Illinois. The Redbirds comes into Tuesday's matchup leading the Missouri Valley Conference in batting average as a team. The 'Birds are hitting .295 which ranks 31st nationally. The Redbirds have also turned the most double plays in the Valley with 19, ranking 48th nationally.
Milwaukee Panthers (12-8, 4-2 Horizon)
Milwaukee comes into the matchup on a four-game winning streak. Last weekend, the Panthers swept Horizon League foe Northern Kentucky in a three game series, outscoring the Norse by a total of 26-17 in runs. Much like the Redbirds, the Panthers turn double plays frequently, turning 21 this season which ranks 21st in the nation. Milwaukee leads its conference in double plays turned as well.

Illinois State leads Milwaukee in the all-time series, holding a 23-6 advantage. The two teams last played in 2018, with Illinois State beating Milwaukee 5-3 on the road.
