NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head men's basketball coach Dan Muller has been selected as a keynote speaker at the 2019 Illinois State COM Week.
Muller will be giving a speech, titled "Winning Basketball, Winning Lives and Leadership", and will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 18 at Capen Auditorium. This event, like all COM Week events, is open to all and subject to seating.
COM Week is an annual professional development event presented by the School of Communication at Illinois State University, and runs from April 16-19. All events are free of charge and open to the public. For more information about COM Week, click HERE.
To most people, college basketball is about winning games. Muller is like most people, and he has the records as a Redbird player and coach to prove he knows how. He is the only Redbird player to win Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year twice, and just three men have coached the Redbirds to more victories than Muller. The choices and challenges of coaching are tough, and events like the April 7, 2015 plane crash in rural Bloomington, which killed an assistant basketball coach, an associate athletics director and five of Muller's friends, challenged him to lead on a higher level.
