ST. LOUIS – The duo of Jana Kustkova and Laura Fitzgerald were tabbed as the MVC Doubles Team of the Week after guiding the Redbirds to a 5-2 finish over the reigning MVC tournament champions Missouri State, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Then tandem took down Alye Darter/Mara Presot 6-2 en route to a 5-2 win for the Redbirds. The two remain undefeated when they play together, boasting an 8-0 record and sit 3-0 in the MVC. This is the first weekly honor for the duo and the second for the program this season. Veronika Golanova and Tara Damnjanovic earned recognition following the first week of the spring slate.
Illinois State women's tennis continues to hold a perfect MVC record at 3-0 and are 15-6 on the season, having won four-straight matches. The 'Birds will wrap up the regular season this weekend as they host UNI on Saturday at 1 p.m. and close out with a match against the Drake Bulldogs on Sunday, April 21.
