SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. – The Missouri Valley Conference has released its 2019 All-Conference awards, and the Illinois State Redbirds are well represented as Trent Wallace has been named the MVC Golfer of the Year and head coach Ray Kralis the MVC Coach of the Year.
In addition to the two specialty awards, four golfers – Wallace, David Perkins, Joel Durnford, and David Rauer – were each named to the All-Conference team.
The Golfer of the Year honor is Illinois State's first since Matt Miller won the award in 2007. Kralis takes home his second MVC Coach of the Year honor, along with his 2007 award. It is the sixth time that an ISU head coach has earned the award, as Harland Kilborn earned the honor four times over his career.
For Wallace, 2019 marks his third All-Conference honor of his career, while Perkins has now earned two, and for Durnford and Rauer it is their first career honor.
Heading into the MVC Championships, Wallace led the Redbirds with a 71.61 stroke per round average, while Perkins was just behind, a fraction behind the senior at 71.63. Wallace and Perkins were also first and second among MVC golfers, while Durnford ranked sixth with a 72.36 scoring average.
