NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State defeated Illinois Tuesday evening at Duffy Bass Field by a final score of 7-6. The Redbirds scored in the bottom of the 13th inning, as Aeilts drove home Parola for the walk-off win. The victory improves the 'Birds record to 18-14 on the season.

"It only takes one. Unfortunately it felt like it took about 15 more innings to get it, but eventually you keep getting guys at second base, and you are going to get that hit. I do not think it could have happened to a better guy to come up there in that situation being from where he is from, and then blasting that ball in the gap."
Scoring Breakdown:
- In the top of the second inning, the Fighting Illini hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the first run of the game to lead the Redbirds 1-0.
- Joe Butler hit a bases-clearing triple off the right field wall to score Aidan Huggins, Jordan Libman, and Aeilts. ISU would take the lead 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
- The Fighting Illini would strike back in the top of the fourth with an RBI double to left field, and a two-run double to left-center field to reclaim the lead. Troike would single later in the inning to score a run that would make it 5-3 in favor of Illinois.
- Rave hit a double to right field that allowed Zouras to score on obstruction by the catcher. Illinois led Illinois State 5-4. Â
- In the top of the fifth inning, the Fighting Illini would scratch across a run on a double off the right field wall to increase their lead to 6-4.
- Illinois State tied the game in the home half of the sixth after an RBI single to center from Rave, and a RBI double to left field from Derek Parola.
- The game would be tied at six runs apiece headed into extra innings.
- In the bottom of the 13th inning, Aeilts would hit the walk-off double into left-center field to score Parola. Illinois State defeated Illinois 7-6.
