Illinois State GOLF Sends Pair to NCAA Regionals

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State seniors Trent Wallace and David Rauer have been selected to compete as individuals at the 2019 NCAA Louisville Regional, hosted at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky on May 13-15.

Rauer, the MVC Championships Medalist, earned an automatic berth into the regionals, while Wallace, the MVC Golfer of the Year, received an at-large spot. From the Louisville Regional, just five teams and one individual will advance to the NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Arkansas at Blessings Golf Club.

Illinois State is one of just five schools, including UCF, Kansas State, Yale, and East Tennessee State to send multiple individuals to the Regionals.

Wallace led the Missouri Valley Conference with a 71.7 stroke per round average, while recording six top-10 finishes on the season, including earning medalist honors at the USF Invitational. This is Wallace's third NCAA Regional appearance over his career, as he advanced on to the NCAA Championships in the 2016-17 season.

Rauer had four top-10 finishes on the season to go with his 73.3 stroke per round average over 36 tournament rounds. He had 14 rounds at or under par and had the 12th-best scoring average in the conference heading into the conference tournament.
