NORMAL, Ill. – First-year head coach Caitlin Hamilton announced Wednesday that the 2019-20 Illinois State swimming and diving schedule has been finalized.
"We are excited to announce our 2019-20 schedule," Hamilton shared. "Illinois State is near a multitude of strong women's swimming and diving programs, and the goal was to showcase and challenge ourselves among them. We believe that is the best possible way to prepare for the MVC Championships in February."
Four home meets highlight the Redbirds' slate, as Hamilton's inaugural season will commence on Sept. 28 with ISU's annual Red and White Intrasquad Meet at 11 a.m. The Redbirds will play host to Big East opponent Butler at Horton Pool for its first dual meet of the season on Oct. 12 at 12 p.m., before hosting Missouri Valley Conference foes Indiana State (Nov. 9) and UNI (Jan. 18).
The Redbirds will hit the road for the first time on Oct. 17 to take on in-state rival Illinois, before wrapping up the 2019 calendar year with a mid-season meet – the Purdue Invite – in West Lafayette, Indiana, from Nov. 21-23.
A quad meet in Fort Myers, Florida, awaits the Redbirds at the turn of the calendar year with host Florida Gulf Coast, Liberty and Tulane on Jan. 4. ISU's final dual meet of the regular season will be at Evansville on Jan. 24, while the diving squad's season will conclude at the UIC Diving Invite on Feb. 1.
The 2020 MVC Swimming and Diving Championships return to the Mizzou Recreation Center for the second-straight year in Columbia, Missouri, Feb. 19-22. This will be the fourth-straight year that the championships are held at a neutral site.
