NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State football fans can mark their calendars for Thursdays during the 2019 football season, as Schooners will host and WJBC 1230-AM will broadcast The Brock Spack Show, presented by Bud Light, live each week from 6-7 p.m.
The long-time home to the weekly coaches' show, Schooners is located at 810 East Grove Street in Bloomington and sits just off the corner of Grove and Clinton Streets. Fans who can't make it out to Schooners are able to listen to the show on WJBC 1230-AM, GoRedbirds.com or via the TuneIn App each week.
Shows will begin Thursday, Aug. 29, when Spack will preview the season-opening game at Northern Illinois on August 31. Every following Thursday throughout the season, Coach Spack and a special player guest will join co-hosts Dick Luedke and Ted Schmitz for the hour to talk about the previous week's game and preview the upcoming opponent for the Redbirds.Â
The Redbirds are looking to get back to the top of the Missouri Valley Football Conference and into the playoffs, as they were picked third in the MVFC preseason poll and are ranked No. 15 in the STATS FCS preseason Top 25. Spack begins his 11th season at the helm of the program (74-45) and has guided the 'Birds to nine winning seasons and four playoff appearances during his tenure.
The Redbirds return 39 letterwinners and 16 starters from last year's squad, including seven players named to All-MVFC teams last season in All-American James Robinson and Luther Kirk (1st Team), Drew Himmelman and Devin Taylor (2nd Team) and special teams standouts JT Bohlken, Christian Uphoff and Paul Monaco (Honorable Mention).
