Redbirds in Italy: ‘Birds Fly Home

NORMAL, Ill. – Following a nine and a half hour flight from Venice to Chicago, the Illinois State Redbirds returned stateside, culminating an 11-day trip to Italy that included stops in Rome, Florence, and Venice.

Check back on the past week on social media (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) from the Illinois State men's basketball team, including each day's recap brought to you by Advocate BroMenn Medical Center.

After arriving in Chicago and making its way through customs, the Illinois State men's basketball team loaded a bus and returned back to Redbird Arena, the site of which the team left for the trip 11 days earlier.

"The trip was amazing," said senior guard Ricky Torres. "It was incredible all the way around. I think it brought us closer as a team being out here together, learning new things. It was a great trip. I loved it."

"Italy was always a place I had wanted to go," said freshman guard Malcolm Miller. "Rome was my favorite – getting to go to the Colosseum. Getting to see all of the buildings in the city and how old they are, it was amazing to see that and a different type of culture."
