NORMAL, Ill. – Fans heading out to tailgate before Illinois State football games this fall will have some new entertainment to add to the festivities, as Illinois State Athletics has announced a four-game Redbird Tailgate Concert Series presented by Bang Energy to help fans enjoy an elevated gameday experience.
The first four football games of the year will feature a two-hour, free concert for fans. On Sept. 7, before the season opener against Morehead State, The Feudin Hillbillies will perform in the Tent Zone as part of the Spack Stache Bash and Redbird Salute to Agriculture promotion from 4-6 p.m. to kick off the series.
On Sept. 21, Nashville country music artist Eric Chesser will perform in parking lot G82 from 4-6 p.m. prior to the Redbird game against Northern Arizona. Chesser is from Plainfield, Illinois, and his drummer, Brian Urquhart, is a 2019 graduate of Illinois State. One current ISU student will receive a $500 scholarship from Eric Chesser just by attending the concert.
The series continues on Oct. 5, when the Redbirds host two-time defending national champion North Dakota State. A band to be announced will perform in parking lot G82 from 10 a.m. to noon prior to kickoff. That will be followed by a DJ to be announced playing in lot G82 from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 26 prior to the Homecoming contest against Indiana State.
